| Built on a pad, fountains include a rise and some form of splash pool. Fountains should be made of stone as the absorbent nature of some types of brick makes it inappropriate. The inner surfaces of the fountain must be parged or stuccoed to protect the mortar joints from the water. Even if using Type S, the coating is still a good idea, as constant exposure to water can still damage the pointing. |
